Trail Purpose

The Sawyer water filter is a highly rated very effective water filtration option for outdoor use. We recommend it for daypacks and packpacks.

We spend a TON of time outdoors. We've used our filters dozens of times when we've run out of water or others around us have under prepared. One time with a Scout troop they all underestimated the hike we were on and consumed all of their water. The high-performance 0.1 Micron absolute inline filter fits in the palm of your hand and weighs just 2 ounces. It removes 99.99999% of all bacteria (salmonella, cholera, and E. coli); removes 99.9999% of all protozoa (such as giardia and cryptosporidium); also removes 100% of microplastics. 

In the outdoors finding and purifying water can be a lifesaving activity. This filter should be at the top of the list for first purchases in your adventures.

Tips and Recommendations

• Clean the filter - Use the back wash plunger regularly to make sure the inlet remains usable.
• Cap - keep the cap on the clean water end of the filter so germs don't get inside.
