Gerber Paraframe

We wanted a great option for our Essentials Pouches. The Gerber Paraframe fits the need.

The handle is skeletonized yet rigid, while the locking foldable blade is strudy for EDC and outdoor use. While it's not a multi-tool, it's perfect for situations where a bulky tool isn't ideal.

Trail Purpose

The Gerber Paraframe is great for EDC or an essentials pouch. The single locking blade is sturdy and the overall tool is light weight with the skeleton handle. Besides EDC, we consider it ideal for essentials pouches. Compare it to the Swiss Army Knife or Skeletool. Each has weight, bulk, and tool considerations.

Personally, I carry the Skeletool, stow the Leatherman Wave in my pack, and keep either the Paraframe or Swiss Army Knife as a backup in the essentials pouch.

Gerber is a reputable brand that puts out great products. The paraframe was intended to be a reliable option when weight restrictions are a factor.

This tool can tackle many tail or camping priorities. It can help you build shelter, prepare food, administer first aid, prepare fuel for burning, cut cordage, and so much more. It's just the right size to keep its weight minimized while providing the best function.

What's Included

  1. Single foldable, locking blade (serrated and straight)

What We Like

  • Survival Fit - As a single tool, the Gerber Paraframe covers so many needs directly and helps create or repair many other survival tools. It covers a lot of day-to-day needs and would perform well in a pinch.
  • Sturdy - It holds up as well in normal uses. It's not as rigid and sturdy as some tools but the weight to sturdiness ratio makes up for it.
  • Blade - The blade holds a great edge.

Tips and Recommendations

  • Use as intended - while the multi-tool is sturdy, use the individual tools wisely. The blade work great as blades but not so well as levers.
  • EDC - Carry the Gerber Paraframe daily and keep the Leatherman Wave handy for your day pack or backpack.
